With commanding views across fields to wooded hillsides and 13,000’ mountain peaks, Paradise Mesa Ranch embodies the quintessential Rocky Mountains ranch. Design Workshop teamed with Eigelberger Architecture + Design to create a mountain equestrian retreat, inspired by historical patterns of Western living. After analyzing the property’s complex water rights, native ecologies and topography, the design team developed a plan that improved the efficiency of historic irrigation ditches, diversified plant communities for resident wildlife and protected scenic views. This plan clustered the development into two areas: a primary home built of simple stone and wood and an equestrian center comprised of stables, a barn and a caretaker residence. The result preserved 95 percent of the property’s agricultural production lands, ensuring the productive qualities of the historic ranchland remain intact for generations to come.
