Round Rock Downtown Park

Round Rock, Texas

Connecting community to nature

Round Rock, located just 17 miles north of Austin within Williamson County, is positioned in one of the nation’s most rapidly growing counties. This impressive growth has served as a catalyst for the City to explore expanding their recreational opportunities that also foster a strong community identity, leading to the push to establish a signature destination park that complements its vibrant and walkable downtown area.

The 20-acre Lawn on Brushy Creek site, situated along the banks of the historic Brushy Creek, is comprised of a series of parcels that border the creek and present diverse opportunities for this future park. This location benefits from the presence of the Heritage Trail, part of the city’s extensive trail network, which runs along the northern edge of the creek and seamlessly links to the northern parcels of the site. By integrating the park into the city’s robust trail system, it will not only serve as a connection to downtown but also as a connection to the growing neighborhood communities of Round Rock.

Additional amenities such as play areas, inviting shade structures, interpretive signage, local art features, pedestrian-friendly creek crossings, and generous open spaces, all converge to give the residents of Round Rock a thoughtful and diverse downtown destination park. Furthermore, the project is acutely attuned to the ecological balance within and surrounding the creek, as it seeks to enhance opportunities for residents to engage with this natural environment. These include creating opportunities for safe creek access, fostering nature education initiatives, and providing spaces to observe and appreciate the local wildlife within undisturbed habitat.
