Tucson, Arizona
Pima Community College’s new campus in the northwestern Tucson wanted to create a sense of community for students. Using the surrounding Sonoran Desert as inspiration, Design Workshop designed an open space framework based on topography, solar orientation and drainage. The campus integrated courtyards, seating areas and hillside gardens to connects the campus and provide students with places to gather. Using native desert plants and materials help transform those spaces perfect for relaxation, contemplation and intellectual stimulation all while connecting students with the natural environment.
